Central Pointe is a light rail station in South Salt Lake, Utah, serviced by all three lines of the Trax system. The station is located adjacent to a shopping center and the offices of the UTA Police Department at 2100 South, a major east-west corridor that marks the boundary between South Salt Lake and Salt Lake City.

History

Central Pointe opened for service on December 4, 1999, as part of the original north-south Trax line (now the Blue Line) built in preparation for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Services

The Blue and Green lines provide access to downtown Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub (with connections to Amtrak inter-city rail and FrontRunner commuter rail) to the north, and several suburbs to the south. The Red Line provides northbound trains to the University of Utah or southbound trains through several suburbs to Daybreak in South Jordan.

The station will also be the western terminus of the planned Sugar House Streetcar line.

A 57-space park and ride facility is available directly east of the station for commuters at no cost; commuters are prohibited from parking in the adjoining shopping center lot. Two covered bicycle lockers are also located at the station, which must be rented from UTA in advance for a fee.[2] Two ticket machines are located on the platform that provide single-ride, roundtrip, and day passes, as well as family and discounted fare tickets. The vending machines are cash-only and provide change in dollar coins and quarters only.[4]
